It Takes a Village to Raise a Child

The phrase, “It takes a village to raise a child” is a popular notion in many societies. Because children occupy a central place in society, it is important how they are raised and by who. Though the parent’s involvement significantly contributes in a variety ways to ensure a child’s development, there are some children who depend on alternatives; such as family members, close relatives, and in other cases orphanages like Rizing Starz.

Care is important because the proper kind of care leads to growth, self-confidence, self-esteem and unselfishness. This involves love and a benevolent discipline so the child feels important internally and externally within a community.

To-date, millions of children have been made orphans because they have been abandoned by their family due to a plethora of reasons. Some because of poverty, inadequate medical care, famine, malaria, and disease which has negative outcomes to the children. Another issue, are those who are HIV victim. According to the statistic which released by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) on GhanaDot.com, there are 48.3 million orphans in South Sahara Africa whom have lost parents because of AIDS. In Ghana, where Rizing Starz is most focused, there 170,000 parents who have died because of AIDS.

Fortunately, there are organizations like ours throughout Africa that help orphans and abandoned children.
